CHARLOTTE - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team suffered its first Atlantic 10 loss of the season as the Hawks fell at Charlotte, 8-0, Sunday afternoon. Saint Joseph's, which fell to 2-1-2 in A-10 play and 7-4-2 overall, returns to action next Friday when it hosts Fordham at 7 p.m.

The 49ers opened the scoring in the 15th minute on a goal by Oni Bernard. Bernard took a forward pass from teammate Nikki Dumencich and beat a SJU defender and Hawk goalkeeper to find the back of the net at 14:11.

Charlotte (9-3-1, 5-0-0 A-10) would go on to add four more first half goals to take a 5-0 edge into halftime.

The 49ers would go on to add three more goals in the second half as Charlotte finished the game out shooting SJU 17-8.

Saint Joseph's freshman Kortney Rhoades led the way for the Hawks with three shots on the day.
