Box Score

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's University men's soccer team had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped by the Duquesne Dukes, 4-1, at Rooney Field on Sunday afternoon. Michael McInaw recorded his second goal of the season and Nick Pozzessere added an assist.

The Dukes took advantage of Hawks' defense early, out shooting SJU, 10-2 in the first stanza while taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission. Ben Horner's sixth goal of 2008 gave DU the lead in the 24th minute. Bryan Benedict made three of his game-high five saves in the opening period.

Duquesne (5-4-3, 1-1-0 Atlantic 10) doubled its lead when Stefan Lundberg put away a Matthew Groves pass in the 52nd minute. It was Lundberg's third goal of the season.

Saint Joseph's (3-3-2, 0-1-1 Atlantic 10) fought back when its captain, McInaw cut the lead in half on the Pozzessere cross. The goal, McInaw's second of the campaign, was notched in the 56th minute. Pozzessere continued his recent success with his third assist on the year.

The Hawks couldn't fend off the Dukes, however, because two quick tallies by Dave Cassanelli and Greg Annan in the 76th and 79th minutes, respectively, for the final score line.

Duquesne dominated SJU in the offensive categories for shots (17-7) and corner kicks (9-0). On the disciplinary end, the Dukes committed six more fouls (14-8) than Saint Joseph's, but Giacomo DiLisi, D.J. Salmon and the Hawks' bench all received cautions in the match.

SJU will return to action when they hit the road for another two-game A-10 road trip next weekend at Richmond (Friday) and George Washington (Sunday).
