PHILADELPHIA -
Jen Goldsack, a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Rowing Team, has been named assistant women's rowing coach at Saint Joseph's, it was announced by head coach Gerry Quinlan.
Goldsack brings an impressive international rowing resume to Saint Joseph's. At the Beijing Olympics, she teamed with Saint Joseph's alum Renee Hykel '01 in the Lightweight Double Sculls. Goldsack and Hykel advanced to the A/B Semifinal but missed qualifying for the medal final by a small margin.
She captured the silver medal in the Lightweight Single Sculls at the 2007 World Championships and won that same event at the 2007 Henley Regatta.
Goldsack is a native of Banstead, United Kingdom who has dual citizenship in the U.S. and the U.K. She began her rowing career at the University of Oxford and graduated from there in 2004 with a master's degree in chemistry. She is a two-time member of the U.S. National Team and was a member of the British National Team in 2005 and 2006.
"We're extremely pleased to have Jen work with us as her rowing and coaching experiences will obviously be a tremendous asset," said Quinlan. "Jen will be working primarily with the small boats - doubles, singles, and quads. We introduced sculling to our regular regimen a few years ago and our next step in our progression is to learn to scull at rate and pressure with the same balance and bladework. Jen will be
vital in bringing us through the next step."
