Box Score

RICHMOND, Va. - An early first-half goal proved to be the difference Sunday afternoon as the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team couldn't answer Richmond's quick tally, falling 1-0 to the Spiders. The Hawks, who got a career-best 13 saves from freshman goalkeeper Christine Neal, fall to 4-5-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the Atlantic 10.

The Spiders (7-5-1, 3-1-0 A-10) scored the game's lone goal in the 14th minute off precise passing. Richmond's Shondel Archer took a centering pass from teammate Bridget Kinealy and quickly turned and fired a shot into the back netting, beating Neal to put UR up 1-0 at 13:48.

The Hawks would have several scoring opportunities, but Richmond's Melissa Pacheco was there to make the saves to preserve the shutout for the Spiders.

For the game, Richmond outshot the Hawks 25-13 and held a 14-4 edge in shots on goal. Each team recorded four corner kicks.

Individually for SJU, sophomore Jen Pfeiffer and freshman Ali Yozwiak each tallied three shots apiece.

Saint Joseph's returns to action this Friday when it hosts Duquesne at 7 p.m.
