Hagan Arena to be Dedicated on October 17

Oct. 5, 2009

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's University will officially dedicate the Michael J. Hagan '85 Arena on Saturday, October 17, with a ceremony at 5 p.m. The event will also mark the celebration of the Centennial of Saint Joseph's basketball, which will be recognized all year long.

The event will feature the ribbon cutting for the arena by lead benefactor Michael Hagan, University president Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., and Hall of Fame coach Dr. Jack Ramsay.

Former players, coaches and Hawks from the past and present of the men's and women's basketball programs will be in attendance to celebrate the 100 years of Saint Joseph's basketball, which played its inaugural season in 1909-10.

Following the 5 p.m. ceremony at Hagan Arena, there will be a brief open house for SJU supporters to tour the new home of the Hawks.

For information on attending the dedication, please contact Rocco Spinelli at 610-660-1237 or rspinell@sju.edu.
