PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team will defend its Kelly Cup title as the annual Bergen Cup regatta takes place on Saturday, April 25 on the Schuylkill River, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Last year, the Hawks won their second consecutive Kelly Cup. Coupled with a strong performance by the SJU men's team, it marked the first time in school history that both Hawks' Varsity 8 boats won the titles in the same year. The Saint Joseph's women's and men's teams won eight of the nine events they entered.

"There is a lot of emotion and bragging rights surrounding any local Philly teams going at each other. And rowing is no different. We are excited to defend the Kelly Cup," said Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Gerry Quinlan.

SJU is coming off a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships, in which the Varsity 8 and Quad won conference titles.
