Women's Soccer Posts 0-0 Double-Overtime Draw at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - Backed by freshman goalkeeper Christine Neal's first collegiate shutout, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team posted a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Delaware on Sunday afternoon. Neal posted one save as the Hawks moved to 1-2-1 on the season.

Saint Joseph's first scoring opportunity came in the 26th minute off the foot of sophomore Jen Pfeiffer. The attacker drilled a shot off the Delaware post, and collected the rebound. Her second shot was blocked though by at Delaware defender, thwarting SJU's attempt.

Neal stopped Delaware's best scoring chance early in the second half, stopping a shot by Kassie Shover at 53:25.

Pfeiffer and classmate Maggie Lupinski each had scoring chances in the secnd half for SJU, but Delaware's goalkeeper Annie Bevan posted saves to keep the game knotted at zero.

Bevan made a save on shots by Pfeiffer and senior Danielle Debernardo in the extra frames to preserve the draw.

For the game, Saint Joseph's outshot the Fightin' Blue Hens 10-9.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday at Saint Peter's at 4 p.m.
