The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team fell behind 2-0 at George Washington Sunday afternoon, and despite a tally by junior Jen Pfeiffer, lost 2-1.
Cara Cadigan put the Colonials on the board at 28:51 as she beat SJU sophomore goalkeeper Christine Neal.
George Washington took its one-goal edge into the second half, despite the game being close as the Colonials held just a 4-3 lead in shots.
Claire Haft upped GW's lead to 2-0 at 59:32 as she took a centering pass from teammate Ashley Starks and found the back of the net.
Pfeiffer made it a 2-1 contest in the 79th minute as she controlled a loose ball after and SJU corner and deposited into the goal.
The Hawks had four more shots, but failed to score as George Washington improved to 8-3-0 and 2-0-0 in the Atlantic 10, while SJU fell to 3-8-0 and 0-2-0 in conference play.
Saint Joseph's returns to action next Friday at Temple at 4 p.m.
