The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped its conference opener to Temple, 3-0, at the Ambler Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Moulton made six saves in goal for the Hawks.
After firing six shots to SJU's two, Temple's Andrew Dodds won a one-on-one with Moulton to put the Owls on the board at the 34:54 mark. Temple had three more shots opportunities but the score would remain 1-0 going into the break.
The Hawks controlled the beginning of the second half, only allowing the Owls one shot while they took four, but Temple's goalkeeper Bret Mollon was there to make the saves.
At the 65:01 mark, the Owls made it 2-0, when Temple's Cody Calafiore one-touched a pass from the goal line into the net. After drilling the Hawks with another 10 shots the Owls scored again to cushion their lead with less than five minutes to play.
Temple outshot SJU, 24-6, on the night and had an 8-2 corner kick advantage.
The Hawks travel to Dayton on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Flyers.
