PHILADELPHIA -
The Saint Joseph's women's rowing Varsity 8 will compete at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England from June 18-20. It marks Saint Joseph's second trip to Henley.
The Hawks earned the invitation by way of their second-place finish in the Dad Vail Regatta, which was their fourth medal in the last five years in the Dad Vail Varsity 8. The crew also combined with the SJU men's team to capture the Bratton Trophy for Overall Points.
Saint Joseph's last competed at Henley in 2006 after winning the Dad Vail Regatta and reached the quarterfinals there.
Making the trip will be SJU's lineup of: c- Clare Burns, 8- Brianne Kammerman, 7- Katie Herdmann, 6- Christina DiSanto, 5- Colleen Greway, 4- Danielle Brady, 3- Colleen Smith, 2- Lauren Rozsits, 1- Bridget Dempsey.
SJU is capping off a strong season which saw them become the only team to medal in the three major eights at the Dad Vail - the Varsity 8, Freshman 8 and Second Varsity 8.
The Hawks will depart for Henley on June 8 and there will be a kickoff party at the Gillin Boathouse on June 4.
