Women's Soccer falls at Cal State Northridge, 4-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped the second game of its West Coast trip on Sunday, falling at Cal Stat Northridge, 4-0. The Hawks (0-2-0), who got a team-best two shots from senior Carly Salter, open the home portion of their schedule on Friday at 5 p.m. against Drexel.

The two squads played to an even first half, with the score tied at zero after the opening 45 minutes.

Cal State Northridge (1-2) struck for four goals in the match's final 25 minutes to hand the Hawks their second loss of the young season.

Desiree Cardenas tallied the first goal for the Matadors off a free kick, placing a shot from 25 yards out past SJU sophomore goalkeeper Christine Neal at 66:52.

Brielle Slepicoff put Cal State Northridge up 2-0 in the 75th minute, with Farryn Townley and Brittanie Sakajlan scoring in the 81st and 85th mintues, respectively, to help the Matadors to their first win of the year.

For the game, Cal State Northridge out shot the Hawks 20-6, with Neal making a game-high seven saves for SJU.
