Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 3-0 match at La Salle Sunday afternoon. The Hawks saw their four-game shutout streak snapped and fall to 5-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the Atlantic 10.

The Explorers (10-0-1, 2-0-0 A-10) took a 2-0 edge into halftime as they tallied both goals in the final six minutes of the stanza. Emily Fenton took a feed from Jackie Cammarata and chipped a shot from the middle of the box over the challenge by SJU goalkeeper Lauren Jancuska and into the netting at 39:10.

Fenton would contribute on the second goal as she fed teammate Courtney Niemiec for the first of her two goals. Niemiec blasted a shot to the upper left corner to put La Salle up 2-0 at 40:43.

A penalty kick at 52:39 by Niemiec added the third goal for La Salle.

For the game, La Salle out shot the Hawks 17-5 and finished with a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore Mo Hawkins led SJU with a pair of shots, while Jancuska was the hard-luck loser despite making a pair of saves.

Saint Joseph's returns to actions on Friday when the Hawks host George Washington at 7 p.m.
