Women's Soccer Plays to 0-0 Double Overtime Draw with George Washington

Oct. 7, 2011

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team posted its sixth shutout of the season, but unfortunately it was in a 0-0 double-overtime draw with George Washington Friday evening at Finnesey Field. Sophomore goal keeper Lauren Jancuska made four saves for the shutout for the Hawks.

Both teams played evenly during regulation, with the Hawks holding a 9-8 edge in shots, but none found the net.

Saint Joseph's (5-4-4, 0-1-1 Atlantic 10) best scoring chance came in the first overtime. Senior Maggie Lupinski's shot to the upper right corner from the top of the box was snagged out of mid air by GW's goalkeeper, Lindsey Rowe, to keep play going on.

George Washington (4-7-2, 1-0-2 A-10) had a chance in the second extra frame to end it early, but Jancuska made a sprawling save off a deflected corner kick.

Senior Jen Pfeiffer and sophomore Mo Hawkins each tallied three shots apiece, while the draw moves Jancuska's record to 3-0-1.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday when the Hawks host Richmond at 1 p.m.
