Langston Galloway Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

Feb. 7, 2011

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - Saint Joseph's freshman Langston Galloway was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for February 7. It is the second time this season he has earned the honor.

For the week, the Baton Rouge, La., native averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 7-for-11 (63.6%) from three-point range.

The 6-2 guard scored a career-high 25 points to lead Saint Joseph's over Massachusetts, 67-64, for the squad's first conference win of the season. It also snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Hawks.

Playing all 40 minutes for the first time this season, Galloway shot 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range, while adding three assists. Defensively, he held UMass' Anthony Gurley to just 10 points, well below his 20.3 average.

Earlier in the week, Galloway had 11 points and nine rebounds in a loss on the road at Richmond.

The Hawks, now 6-17 and 1-8 in the league, return to action on Sunday, February 13 vs. Fordham at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
