Women's Soccer Drops 2-0 Match at Penn

Sept. 11, 2011

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped a challenging 2-0 match at Penn Sunday afternoon. The Hawks got a game-high five saves from junior Christine Neal, while senior Maggie Lupinski registered a team-high four shots.

After a scoreless first half, the Quakers (4-0-0) got on board at 58:09 as Kathryn Barth took a crossing pass from Kerry Scalora and drilled a shot into an open net to make it a 1-0 game.

Scalora added an insurance goal at 64:28 as her free kick squirted by the Hawks' defense and slipped over the goal line to make it a 2-0 game.

The Hawks (1-3-2) had a pair of chances, with their best opportunity coming in the 90th minute. Unfortunately for SJU, a header by sophomore Shannon Farrell was directed wide of the net.

Saint Joseph's returns to action at UMBC on Wednesday.
