Men's Tennis Falls to Duquesne, 5-2

BALA CYNWYD, Pa. - Junior Alex Veronis was a winner in the top singles flight and the Hawks won the doubles point, but it wasn't enough as Duquesne defeated Saint Joseph's, 5-2, in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Racquet and Fitness Club.

In doubles play, senior Jeff Kessler and freshman Max Montague combined for the victory in the top flight, while Veronis and senior Peter Cognetti were winners in the third flight. All three matches went to a tiebreaker.

Veronis dispatched Aram Abgaryan, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at number-one singles for the Hawks' only point in singles play. Montague dropped the first set of this sixth-flight match before storming back with a 6-0 victory in the second set. Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, he fell, 6-4, in the final set to drop the point.

The Hawks hit the road for their next match, traveling to Newark for contest at the University of Delaware. Play is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
