The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team got a pair of goals from senior Taylor Mallory, but the host Loyola Greyhounds would go on to top the Hawks, 3-2, in double overtime on Sunday afternoon.
With time running down and the Hawks trailing 2-1, Mallory scored her second goal of the day off a free kick. Following a foul on the Greyhounds with less than 30 seconds to go, Mallory delivered a shot from 20 yards out that curled away from the defensive wall and found the left corner to tie the score with four seconds remaining in regulation.
Unfortunately for the Hawks (4-4-1), Nicole Schiro would give Loyola the win on a shot from inside the box that found the back of the net with 1:47 to go in the second overtime.
Loyola (4-2-) opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Katelyn McFadden's shot from 25 yards out that slipped into the net on the far right side.
Mallory would tie the game right before halftime on her first free kick of the day. From the right corner of the box, the Hawks' senior drilled a shot that would tie the score at 1-1 at 44:49.
Schiro gave her team the lead, 2-1, off a give and go at 63:40, before the Hawks tied it with seconds to go.
For the game, Loyola out shot SJU 23-19, with SJU senior goalkeeper Christine Neal making four saves on the day. Junior Mo Hawkins led Saint Joseph's with five shots.
The Hawks return to action on Friday, September 21 at Lehigh. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
