Box Score

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Nicole King's goal less than five minutes into overtime lifted the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Lehigh on Friday evening. The Hawks, who got a first half goal from junior Shannon Farrell, capped the nonconference portion of their schedule with a 5-4-1 record.

Saint Joseph's opened the scoring in the 19th minute on Farrell's first goal of the season. With the ball deep in Lehigh's zone, King volleyed a pass into the box where Farrell headed a shot into an opening at the middle of the net at 18:30.

The Mountain Hawks would answer back in the 40th minute as Darby Weigand headed in a corner kick to tie the game at 1-1.

The match would remain tight over the remainder of regulation as both teams tallied 11 shots each. The lone shot in overtime proved to be the difference as the Hawks head into the Atlantic 10 portion of the schedule on a winning note.

Senior Christine Neal made four saves in the winning effort.

The Hawks return to action next Saturday, September 28, at Temple. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
