Box Score

NEWARK, Del. - The Saint Joseph's baseball team took an early lead, but the Delaware bats eventually took over and dealt the Hawks a 17-3 setback at Bob Hannah Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Graduate student Collin Forgey and junior Mike Muha each registered a pair of doubles in the game.

Saint Joseph's (10-13) drew first blood as Forgey came in to score on a first-inning double by Muha to give the Hawks a quick 1-0 lead.

Delaware (15-8) went ahead in the bottom of the second, scoring a pair on a one-out double by Ty Warrington to take a 2-1 lead.

The Blue Hens put five on the board in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to go on top 11-1, but the Hawks answered with two in the seventh. Lansing Veeder laced a single to left to score John Brue before Spencer Judge came in to score on a passed ball.

Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, UD scuttled any further comeback by scoring six times in the bottom half of the inning to set the final score.

Dan Gatto earned the win for Delaware, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight in six innings. Jack Stover took the loss for Saint Joseph's, falling to 0-3.

The Hawks have a quick turnaround as they will kick off a three-game conference series with Atlantic 10 rival Fordham on Thursday. First pitch from Smithson Field is set for 3:00 p.m. Gametracker and live audio and will be available at SJUHawks.com.
