Women's Soccer Falls To Liberty, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team saw its unbeaten streak snapped as the Hawks fell to Liberty, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

The visiting Flames (4-1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 9:07 as Maddie Boone scored from the top of the left box on a shot that found the upper right corner of the net.

Saint Joseph's (3-1-2) and Liberty would play even from there over the remaining 35 minutes of the half, but the Flames would tally a pair of goals in the second half to ensure the win.

Liberty's Brittany Anderud made it 2-0 at 52:20 off a free kick at the top of the box to the inside corner of the upper right hand side. Geena Swentik added an insurance goal at 62:56 as her shot from 20 yards out deflected off the top of the crossbar and into the middle of the goal.

The Hawks' senior Mo Hawkins led the charge for SJU with three shots, but it wasn't enough as the SJU was handed its first loss of the year. in net, senior Lauren Jancuska made three saves on the day.

Saint Joseph's returns to action this Friday against Loyola at 7 p.m.
