BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham scored 15 seconds into the first overtime frame to hand the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team a 1-0 loss Friday evening.
In a tightly contested match, the Rams (7-8-1, 1-4-1 A-tlantic 10) struck the lone goal as Maria Canictti's shot from 35 yards out just seconds into overtime glanced off the crossbar and into the back of the net for the game winner.
Playing near equal during regulation, the Hawks (10-8-0, 3-4-0 Atlantic 10) posted nine shots to the Rams 11, while Fordham had a 4-2 edge in korner kicks..
Individually, sophomores Emily Gingrich and Shannon Mulvey led Saint Joseph's with four shots apiece. In net, junior Allison Ebling made four saves.
Saint Joseph's caps the regular season next Friday at George Mason at 7 p.m.
