MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the visiting Duquesne Dukes came away with a 7-0 win on Saturday.
“A tough squad held us off at every position, but the matches were competitive,” said head coach Ian Crookenden. “We tried too hard and did not really play our game. We made too may errors, which cannot do against a strong squad.”
The top two doubles flights were hotly contested, as the Dukes came away with 9-7 and 9-8 victories.
In singles play, Duquesne earned wins in all six flights, but freshmen Kyle Chalmers and Tristan Boustany took their opponents to a supertiebreaker in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
The Hawks will look to bounce back on Tuesday afternoon at La Salle.
