HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team fell to Hofstra, 5-0, Sunday afternoon.
The host Pride got on the board first at 3:39 as Sam Scolarici scored off a penalty kick following a SJU foul in the box.
Hofstra (2-1-0), who outshot the Hawks 24-7 on the day, would add three more first half goals as Leah Galton scored in the 18th and 32nd minute, while Amber Stobbs scored in the 20th minute.
Scolarici added her second goal of the day in the 86th minute to make the final 5-0.
Saint Joseph's, which got a career-best eight saves from junior Allison Ebling, falls to 1-3-0 on the season with the loss. Freshman Lauren Dimes and junior Ashley Volm combined for five of SJU's seven shots on the day.
The Hawks return to action next Friday when they travel to UMBC for a 7 p.m. match.
