Former Saint Joseph's star Langston Galloway made his NBA debut this week with the New York Knicks and gained notice with his play in his first game in Madison Square Garden.
Galloway, who signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks on January 7, had seven points, three assists and no turnovers in 17 minutes as point guard in the Knicks' 101-91 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday night.
Then on Thursday, he dazzled in his Madison Square Garden debut, scoring 19 points (6 of 10 from the floor, 3 of 4 from 3) and exciting the crowd and the world of social media with a number of highlight film plays, including a putback dunk. It marked the most points by a Knicks' player in his first MSG game since Patrick Ewing in 1985.
Galloway was called up to the Knicks from the West Chester Knicks of the NBA D League. The 6-4 guard had been leading the WC Knicks in scoring with 16.5 points per game and was shooting 44.7 percent from the field. Galloway had played in 19 games and was averaging 36.8 minutes per game.
A 2014 graduate of Saint Joseph's, Galloway is the Hawks' all-time leader in three-point field goals.
