The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team hosted a tri-meet with Navy and Rutgers and the Hawks finished ahead of Rutgers and second to Navy in every event in near-perfect conditions on the Schuylkill River.
The Varsity 8 took the lead right off the start and opened up a length's lead by the 1000-meter mark, but in the third 500, Navy started to chip away at the Hawks' lead and ultimately finished first in a great race.
The Hawks' 3rd Varsity 8 also had a great race, separating from Rutgers and battling with Navy all the way down the course. The crews traded the lead several times, but in the end Navy pulled out the victory by one second.
Both Varsity Fours and the 2nd Varsity 8 also had solid races, besting Rutgers and coming in second to Navy.
