Women's Soccer Tops Seton Hall, 2-1

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Junior Emily Gingrich and senior Morgan Michon each tallied a second-half goal as the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team extended its win streak to three games with a 2-1 victory at Seton Hall on Friday night.

After more than 70 minutes of scoreless play, Gingrich broke the tie in the 75th minute on her fourth goal of the season. From outside the box, the Hawks' midfielder drilled a shot to the upper right corner and past the Seton Hall goalkeeper to give SJU a 1-0 edge at 74:14.

Michon followed shortly after in the 78th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. Off a pass from Gingrich, Michon lifted a shot towards the net that was misplayed by the Pirates' goalkeeper and slipped over the line at 77:53 to make it 2-0 in favor of Saint Joseph's.

Seton Hall cut the SJU lead to 2-1 at 82:33 as Sarah Fiorino found the back of the net in a crowd off a corner kick, but goalkeeper Allison Ebling and the Hawks' defense would not allow the Pirates to get closer as the hosts were held without a shot from there.

With the victory, the Hawks improve to 4-1-0 on the season. Saint Joseph's finished with a 16-10 edge in shots, while Ebling made three saves and improved to 3-0-0 on the year.

Seton Hall falls to 0-5-2 with the loss.

The Hawks return to action on Sunday at Lehigh at 1 p.m.
