DAYTON, Ohio – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team bounced back from Friday's setback with a 5-2 victory over Saint Louis in a neutral site matchup at the Five Seasons Sports Club. Senior Andres Urrea netted a pair of wins on the day for the Hawks.
Urrea teamed with Renier Moolman for a 6-3 win in the first doubles flight before Kevin Gates and Tristan Boustany locked up the point with a 7-6 (5) win. The Billikens defaulted in the third flight.
Saint Louis (10-3 overall, 2-2 Atlantic 10) took a brief lead with victories in the first and fourth singles flights, but the Hawks recovered to win the remaining singles matches. Kyle Chalmers outlasted Charlie Parry, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the third flight to level the match before Urrea put SJU ahead after gutting out a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over John Nogalski in the second.
Andre Fick clinched the victory for Saint Joseph's (7-5 overall, 3-1 Atlantic 10) with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win in the fifth flight, and the Hawks were awarded the sixth-flight tilt in a default.
The Hawks return home for a pair of Atlantic 10 opponents next weekend. Saint Joseph's will host Duquesne on Friday, March 18, before taking on Davidson on March 20.
