VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend of play on Sunday, taking part in the Villanova Invitational.

Senior Peter Dewitt and junior Dan Tan led the way for the Hawks, placing third in the Blue Draw.  The pair swept two singles and a doubles match from Mike Czlonka and Stefan Suarez of Villanova before falling to the Wildcats' Tommy Dodson and Tyler Roth.  In the third-place match, Dewitt and Tan won a 6-0 doubles decision over Andre Felix and Antoine Gautier of Chestnut Hill before taking the singles matches by default.

Sophomore Beekman Schaeffer and freshman Johnnie Massart teamed up in the Blue Draw, as did junior Andre Fick and sophomore Luis Janko; both duos earned victories en route to 10th- and 11th-place finishes in the flight.  The teammates faced off against one another in the third round of matches, with Massart and Schaeffer taking a 2-1 result.

In the White Draw, junior Michael Santa Lucia and freshman Sam Sauter notched an eighth-place finish, while senior Nick Ringle and sophomore Scott Battaglia battled back for two singles wins to take the win in the 15th-place match.

The Hawks will return to action on Friday as they host the opening day of the ninth annual Saint Joseph's Invitational at the SJU Tennis Complex.
