TOWSON, Md. - Saint Joseph's Paige Bergman scored 2:19 into overtime to cap a 4-3 comeback win for the Hawks' women's soccer team at Towson on Sunday.

Down 3-1 early into the second half, SJU (3-1-1) battled back to tie the game behind goals from rookie Morgan Bower and sophomore Gabrielle Vagnozzi to force extra time.

Bower tallied her first collegiate goal at 75:31 to make it 3-2 as she took a pass from Hannah Racis and found the back of the net.

With full time nearing, the Hawks struck again to tie the game at 3-3 as Vagnozzi got a pass from rookie Sofia Filippo and lifted a shot from the top of the box that beat the Towson keeper with 2:26 to play.

In overtime, Saint Joseph's made its first offensive possession count. After earning a corner, Bergman drilled the kick that curled into towards the net and found an opening to end the match and give the Hawks a 4-3 victory.

In the first half, Towson (3-2-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:59 in as McKenzie McCaull took advantage of a misplayed ball by the SJU defense.

Racis answered back at 21:33 to tie the game on a header off a corner kick by Bergman.

The Tigers added their second goal less than four minutes before the half and struck again just over 10 minutes into the second half to open a 3-1 lead.

Towson would slowly see its lead chipped away from there though as the Hawks bounced back from a 1-0 losst at Villanova on Friday.

For the game, junior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made four saves in the win as the Hawks finished with a 20-14 edge in shots and 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Sunday at Ohio State at 1 p.m.
