PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dropped the finale of its spring break trip on Friday, falling to Duquesne, 6-1, on the indoor courts at Alpha Tennis and Fitness.

“It was a tough battle at their indoor home,” head coach Ian Crookenden said. “There were close doubles as well as some battles in the singles, with a high quality of play in all spots.”

Saint Joseph's (3-6 overall, 1-3 Atlantic 10) earned a win in the first doubles flight, as senior Tim Stierle and junior Michael Santa Lucia earned a 6-2 win, but the Dukes came away with wins in the second and third flights to earn the doubles points.

The Dukes doubled the lead with a win in the first singles flight, but junior Andre Fick got the Hawks back into the match with a 6-0, 7-5 triumph in the second flight.

Unfortunately for SJU, Duquesne (7-6 overall, 2-2 Atlantic 10) secured wins in the remaining four flights to see off the match.

The Hawks return home to the SJU Tennis Complex on Monday for their first home outdoor match against Chestnut Hill. Saint Joseph's will then host Morgan State on Tuesday afternoon.
