Women's Soccer Blanks Lehigh, 2-0

Backed by goals from senior Hannah Racis and freshman Aleksa Peev, and a shutout performance from goalkeeper Grace Bendon, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team blanked Lehigh, 2-0, on Sunday at Sweeney Field.

After a scoreless first half, Racis got SJU on the board on a header off the corner kick from classmate Paige Bergman. With the helper, Bergman set a new program record for career assists with her 19th, surpassing previous record holder in SJU Hall of Famer Ellen Stenrud.

Peev added an insurance goal in the 81st minute with her first collegiate tally as she collected a clearing attempt by a Lehigh defender on the backline and deposited a shot into the upper left corner to make it 2-0.

Bendon and the Hawks' defense would keep the Mountain Hawks honest from there as Bendon picked up the shutout making three saves on the day.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Thursday at Rutgers at 7 p.m.
