Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated With Win At James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. - A second-half penalty kick conversion by senior Taylor Ryan lifted the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at James Madison on Sunday. With the win, the Hawks remain undefeated as they improve to 3-0-1 heading into next Friday's matchup at Princeton.

Sophomore Morgan Bower opened the scoring for SJU in the 13th minute with her second goal of the season. Off a corner kick, Ryan gained control of the ball and lofted it into the box where Bower headed home the game's opening tally.

James Madison (1-3-0) evened the match at 1-1 in the 25th minute as Ginger Deel scored off a corner kick.

Ryan would break the tie early in the second half following a foul called inside the James Madison box. Connecting on her try, Ryan gave SJU the lead again, 2-1, on her first goal of the year.

The Hawks' defense and senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made the score stand from there with Bendon making three of her game-high five saves in the final 30 minutes of play. With the win, Bendon moves into a tie for second all-time in career wins (22), one shy of the all-time mark held by Allison Ebling.
