Women's Soccer Team's Unbeaten Streak Snapped at #20 Princeton

The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team lost its first match of the season on Friday as the Hawks fell at #20 Princeton, 3-0, to move to 3-1-1 on the year.

Senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made a game-high five saves for SJU, while junior Gabrielle Vagnozzi tallied a team-best three shots.

The Tigers (3-0-0) struck for their first goal at 6:45 as Tomi Kennedy scored off a crossing pass to make it 1-0.

Bendon and the Hawks' defense kept Princeton off the board for the remainder of the half, but the Tigers mirrored SJU and took a 1-0 lead into the second half.

In the final stanza, Mimi Asom added a pair of insurance goals in the final 20 minutes to help Princeton preserve the victory.

With Friday's result, Saint Joseph's capped its three-game road swing with a 1-1-1 mark, while the Hawks' 3-0-1 record to open the season was their best since 2012.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Thursday, September 6, when the Hawks host Drexel at 7 p.m.
