Bendon Sets Career Wins Record As Women's Soccer Blanks Cornell

Saint Joseph's women's soccer team capped non-conference play in style on Sunday as senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon set a new program record for victories and rookie Aleksa Peev tallied the match's lone goal in a 1-0 win over Cornell.

Making her 36th-straight start in net for SJU, Bendon posted her second clean sheet of the season for her 24th career win, passing the previous mark of 23 set by Allison Ebling.

In a match that saw SJU control the pace for a majority of the time, it wasn't until midway through the second half that Peev broke the scorless tie. With the ball rolling toward the right side of the box, senior Taylor Ryan deflected a clearing attempt by Cornell into the middle of the field, and quickly striking, Peev lifted a shot to the upper left corner to make it 1-0 at 66:54.

Saint Joseph's defense and Bendon kept the Big Red off the board from there as the Hawks impproved to 5-2-2 on the season.

The Hawks open the Atlantic 10 portion of their schedule this Thursday when they host Saint Louis at 7 p.m.
