PHILADELPHIA - Backed by second half goals from seniors Dakota Mills and Taylor Ryan, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 victory at La Salle on Sunday afternoon.
The host Explorers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Molly O'Brien gave La Salle the edge with a goal just 4:19 into the match.
The score remained the same heading into the second half, but the veteran Hawks wouldn't back down.
Under 10 minutes into the second stanza, Mills took a lead pass from Bridget Galen and drilled a shot from 10 yards out just under the crossbar to tie the game at 1-1 at 54:41.
Ryan would give the Hawks a 2-1 lead at 62:23 as she converted a penalty kick following a La Salle foul inside its own box.
From there, Saint Joseph's defense and senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon would do the rest as they kept the Explorers off the board.
With the win, the Hawks moved to 6-3-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle falls to 6-2-1 on the year and 1-1-0 in conference play.
The Hawks are back in action on Thursday when they host Richmond at 7 p.m.
