Behind two goals from senior Michaela Finneyfrock and another from classmate Hannah Racis, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team downed Richmond, 3-0, on Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.
Finneyfrock gave the Hawks a 1-0 early on with her first goal of the season. Collecting a failed clear by the Spiders, the SJU midfielder drilled a shot from the top of the box that glanced off the gloves of the diving keeper and into the net at 3:48.
The Hawks added to their lead at 15:12 as Racis headed home a corner kick by junior Gabrielle Vagnozzi to make it 2-0.
Finneyfrock struck again, this time striking off a headed pass by senior Taylor Ryan to push SJU ahead 3-0 at the 30:19 mark. Senior Paige Bergman picked up her team-leading fourth assist on the season on the play.
From there, the Hawks' defense and senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made the score stand as Bendon made one save in a dominant performance by Saint Joseph's backfield.
With the win, SJU improves to 7-3-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Richmond falls to 1-10-0 and 1-2-0 in conference play.
The Hawks return to action at Dayton on Sunday at 1 p.m.
