Women's Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw With Drexel

Saint Joseph's senior Paige Bergman scored in the 82nd minute to help the Hawks' women's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with Drexel on Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.

In a match that featured a 90-minute delay for lightning, the Dragons struck first off a misplay by the Hawks midway trhough the second half. Off a ball played back towards the SJU goal, the Hawks failed to communicate as they allowed Raenah Campbell to collect a loose ball and drill a shot into the open net at 73:58.

Saint Joseph's would answer back less than 10 minutes later on Bergman's first goal of the year. Off a centering pass from the right endline by Hannah Racis, Bergman broke towards the Drexel goal and connected with a shot to the upper left corner to make it 1-1 at 81:55.

Neither team would break through in the final moments of regulation or overtime as SJU and goalkeeper Grace Bendon moved to 3-1-2 on the season.

The Hawks are back in action on Sunday when they host Bucknell at 1 p.m.
