PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team had a strong showing this past Saturday as the Hawk returned home to compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
How It Happened
• The upperclassmen raced in small boats this weekend in the Hawks' head race finale.
• The Varsity 4s were split into boats by class as the juniors bested the other SJU boats and finished fourth overall in the field of 54.
• The seniors placed 16th in the Varsity 4s, finishing ahead of the sophomores in 18th place.
• The Pairs placed ninth, 11th and 13th out of 20 boats, with most of the group rowing in pairs for the first time.
• In the Freshmen 8 event, the Hawks placed fourth out of 24 boats, just 0.1 seconds off Penn.
• In the first career race for the Novice 4, SJU finished in the middle of the pack.
Coach's Corner
"We had very strong performances across the board after a week of getting out of our comfort zone a bit in mixed and small boats. We really adapted well from day to day, improving as the week went on. We are very excited about the trajectory we are on as a team," said head coach Gerry Quinlan.
