Coach Lange vs. Connecticut: First Meeting
• Saint Joseph's faces Connecticut for just the eighth time as the Hawks and Huskies meet Wednesday at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.
• The Hawks are coming off an 82-69 loss to Old Dominion on Sunday.
• Tied 65-65 with under four minutes to play, the Monarchs scored 17 of the final 21 points to pull away.
• Redshirt junior Ryan Daly finished two points shy of a triple-double, tallying 13 rebounds, 11 assists and eight points. Daly's 11 assists are the most by a Hawk since Halil Kanacevic's12 versus Penn on January 18, 2014.
• Saint Joseph's is currently averaging 17.0 assists per game and are assisting on 70 percent of their made field goals.
• Wednesday marks the first contest between Saint Joseph's and Connecticut since the 2014 NCAA Tournament. In that contest, the Huskies converted a three-point play with :39 to go to force overtime, and went on to outscore the Hawks, 19-11, in the extra frame to advance.
EDWARDS' CAREER GAME
Lorenzo Edwards had himself a game against Old Dominion as the junior forward finished with a career-best 23 points on 8-13 shooting, including 7-9 from behind the arc. With his success from three-point range on Sunday, half of Edwards' 76 career field goals have now come from distance.
KNOX SCORES EIGHT IN DEBUT
Freshman Chereef Knox finished with eight points and four rebounds in his collegiate debut against Old Dominion. Playing 22 minutes as a reserve, Knox also added four rebounds.
GETTING UP THREES
Saint Joseph's enters Wednesday averaging 34 three-point attempts per game. The Hawks attempted 37 at Old Dominion on Sunday and are on pace for 1,054 attempts this season. Should that average hold, SJU would shatter the previous mark of 775 set in 2003-04.
DALY'S NEAR TRIPLE-DOUBLE
Ryan Daly finished two points shy of a triple-double versus Old Dominion as the redshirt junior finished with 13 rebounds, 11 assists and eight points. The last time a Hawk recorded a triple-double was Dwayne Jones versus St. Bonaventure on February 19, 2005 as he had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks.
