Daly and Moore Lead Men's Basketball Past UConn, 96-87

STORRS, Conn. - Ryan Daly scored a career-high 30 points and Rahmir Moore added 22 as the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team held off Connecticut, 96-87, on Wednesday evening at Gampel Pavilion.

How It Happened
• Up by as many as 27 points in the first half, the Hawks (2-1) saw their lead cut to three, 79-76, with 4:42 to play in the second half.

• Daly and Moore combined for the next nine Saint Joseph's points, with Lorenzo Edwards putting an exclamation point on an 11-3 run with an emphatic steal and slam with 1:31 left.

• Saint Joseph's closed out the game going 6-8 from the line to pick up its first win over the Huskies since March 8, 1965.

• Playing their second of six straight road contests, the Hawks came out on fire as they ran out to a 14-0 edge as Daly and Myles Douglas scored eight and six points, respectively.

• A Moore free throw at 6:34 gave the Hawks their biggest lead of the game, 46-19, with Saint Joseph's taking a 54-38 lead into the second half.

• In the second stanza, Connecticut used a 21-4 run to make it 73-69 on a layup by Christian Vital at 8:22.

• Saint Joseph's pushed the lead up to eight, but the Huskies answered back to make it 79-76 before the frantic final minutes.

• For the game, the Hawks shot 45.7 percent from the field, going 32-70 overall, while knocking down 13-33 from three-point range (39.4 percent) and 19-33 from the foul line (57.6 percent).

• The Hawks held the Huskies to just 22-63 shooting for 34.9 percent.

• Daly finished the night going 10-27 from the field, including 6-12 from three-point range, and added eight rebounds.

• Coming off the bench, Moore scored 13 of his season-high 22 points in the second half.

• Douglas finished with 18 points, while Edwards added 10 rebounds to go with five points.

Taylor Funk finished with an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double.

• The Hawks finished with a 36-14 edge in scoring in the paint.
