Coach Lange vs. Old Dominion: First Meeting

• Saint Joseph's opened the 2019-20 season with an 86-81 victory over Bradley on Tuesday evening.

• Redshirt junior Ryan Daly, playing his first game since transferring from Delaware prior to the 2018-19 season, led all scorers with 26 points.

• Redshirt sophomore Myles Douglas, also making his Hawk debut after transferring from UCF, finished with 18 points.

• Saint Joseph's overcame a 45-43 halftime deficit as the Hawks held the Braves to just 28.6 percent shooting from the floor in the second half, while outscoring them, 43-36.

• Tuesday marked the first game for new Saint Joseph's head coach Billy Lange. Lange, who came to Hawk Hill after a successful stint as an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers, improved to 132-134 all-time with the win.

• Sunday marks the 14th meeting between SJU and Old Dominion, with the Hawks winning nine of the previous contests, including last year's matchup, 79-64.

• Despite holding an edge in the series, the Hawks are just 2-4 in games in  Norfolk, Virginia.

HAWKS HIT THE ROAD
Sunday marks the first of six-straight games away from Hawk Hill for Saint Joseph's. The streak is the longest stretch of games away from Hagan Arena or The Palestra since the start of the 2008-09 season. The Hawks played their home games during that year at The Palestra as Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse underwent renovations to create current-day Hagan Arena.

FOR OPENERS
With Tuesday's win, Saint Joseph's improved to 83-26 all-time in season openers.

MYLES HIGH
Myles Douglas set a new career-high for scoring against Bradley as he finished with 18 points. Douglas' previous career-high was eight points versus Nebraska on November 23, 2017 as a rookie at UCF.

NEAR HIGH
Ryan Daly's 26 points versus Bradley were two points shy of his career-high of 28, set against UNC-Wilmington while a freshman at Delaware on January 7, 2017.

ASHLEY ADDS DEFENSE
Coming into Tuesday's season opener, Dennis Ashley competed in 85 games as a member of the Maine Black Bears. But it took until his first game as a Hawk for Ashley to record his first career block. He finished the night with three points to go along with the rejection.

NEXT UP
The Hawks remain on the road as they travel to UConn for a Wednesday matchup with the Huskies.
