Saint Joseph's
Ryan Daly scored a career-high 32 points, but #23 Villanova held on for a 78-66 victory despite a strong second-half charge by the Hawks on Saturday at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• Falling behind 41-25 at halftime after shooting 27 percent from the field, the Hawks quickly cut into the Wildcats' lead with a 7-0 run to start the second period.
• Daly scored the opening four points of the second half, while a three-pointer by
Lorenzo Edwards made it 41-32.
• Saint Joseph's continued to chip away at Villanova's lead as the half continued as a three-pointer by
Cameron Brown brought the Hawks to within three, 63-60, at 4:51.
• Villanova pushed its lead back to nine, 73-64, but a bucket by Daly cut it to a 73-66 contest with 1:26 to play.
• The Wildcats held the Hawks scoreless from their as they scored the game's final five points.
• Villanova jumped out to a 9-2 lead to start the game, but Saint Joseph's clawed back as a pair of free throws by Daly made it 17-14 in favor of the visitors.
• The Wildcats answered back with a 12-0 run and allowed the Hawks to get no closer than 13 points for the remainder of the half.
