Ryan Daly had a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds, and
Cameron Brown added a season-best 16 points, but #20 Dayton pulled away late for a 80-67 victory over the Hawks on Sunday at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• After a back-and-forth start to the contest, Dayton used a 7-0 run to open a 22-14 edge.
• Saint Joseph's answered back with a 12-0 run of its own as
Myles Douglas and Daly combined for 10 points, with a Daly jumper at 3:34 giving the Hawks a 26-22 edge.
• Dayton regained the lead late in the period, but Daly connected on a three-pointer before the buzzer to tie the contests at 33-33 at halftime.
• Sparked by back-to-back three-pointers Brown, the Hawks started the second half on a 9-2 run to open their biggest lead, 42-35.
• Behind an 11-1 run, Dayton retook the lead, 46-43.
• The Hawks cut the Flyers' lead to one three times, but Dayton connected on three consecutive three-pointers to open a 59-49 advantage with 8:41 to go.
• Saint Joseph's made it a five-point game three times from there, but the Flyers held on for their first win at Hawk Hill since January 29, 2000.
