Davidson Fends Off Men's Basketball, 80-66

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Saint Joseph's Jack Forrest and Taylor Funk scored 19 points apiece, but Davidson fended off a strong second half push by the Hawks for an 80-66 win at John M. Belk Arena on Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
• The Hawks came out with the hot hand early as they opened a 19-9 lead on a three-pointer by Jordan Hall at 12:09.
• Momentum shifted for the second part of the period as the Wildcats answered with an 11-0 run to take a 20-19 edge on a Kellan Grady three-pointer.
• Jadrian Tracey answered with a basket to push the Hawks ahead, 21-20, but Davidson ended the half on a 17-6 run to take a 37-26 lead into the second period.
• Falling behind 43-26 at the start of the final 20 minutes, Saint Joseph's slowly chipped away at the Wildcats' lead.
• A 9-0 run, capped by a Funk three-pointer, brought the Hawks to within 48-43 at 13:17.
• Davidson extended its lead to 59-50, but Cameron Brown highlighted an 8-2 response with a dunk to make it a one-possession game, 61-58, with 7:23 to go.
• The Wildcats answered back with a 9-0 run and allowed Saint Joseph's to get no closer than eight points in the final minutes.

Inside The Boxscore
• Tonight marked the fourth time SJU had four Hawks finish in double-figures for scoring this season.
• Forrest finished with a season-high 19 points as he connected on 7-13 field goals, including 4-7 from behind the arc, and added five rebounds and two assists.
• Funk, who has led the Hawks in scoring or tied for the team lead each of the past four games, poured in 19 points and grabbed three rebounds.
• Hall posted a team-high seven rebounds, and a game-high six assists to go with 12 points.
• Brown was the fourth Hawk in double figures, scoring 11 points, with eight coming in the second half.
• The Hawks caused season-high 21 turnovers, leading to 17 points.
• Saint Joseph's finished the contest 22-60 from the field (36.7 percent), 9-32 from behind the arc (28.1 percent) and 13-16 from the foul line (81.3 percent).
• Grady led five Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 21 points.
• As a team, Davidson connected on 28-54 from the field (51.9 percent), 14-29 from three-point range (48.3 percent) and 10-18 from the line (55.6 percent).
• The Hawks moved to 10-12 all-time versus Davidson, with the two teams facing off again on February 20 on Hawk Hill.
