Saint Joseph's Taylor Funk scored a game-high 21 points, but George Mason held off a second-half charge by the Hawks as the Patriots earned a 71-62 win at Hagan Arena on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
• George Mason jumped out to an 11-2 lead less than three minutes into the contest.
• A 7-0 run by the Hawks made it 11-9 on a layup by Jordan Hall at 15:49.
• The Patriots responded with a 10-2 run to extend its lead to 21-11 on a three-pointer by Xavier Johnson.
• Saint Joseph's cut George Mason's lead to three, but the Patriots pushed it back to eight at the half, 32-24.
• Down by 10 early in the second period, the Hawks cut the deficit to one, 48-47 on a Hall layup with 8:01 left to play.
• George Mason responded with an 8-2 run to push ahead 56-49 on a Javon Greene three-pointer, and never allowed the Hawks to get closer than five points from there.

• Funk led the Hawks in scoring for the seventh time this season as he poured in 21 points and added five rebounds.
• Hall handed out a game-high seven assists, grabbed a team-best seven rebounds and scored 15 points.
• Saint Joseph's matched its season-high with 13 offensive rebounds, tying the mark from it's season-opening matchup with Auburn.
• The Hawks connected on 25-71 from the floor (35.2 percent), 7-26 from three-point range (26.9 percent) and 5-10 from the foul line.
