Men's Basketball Falls At St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's Taylor Funk and Cameron Brown scored 13 points apiece as the Hawks held an early lead, but a strong push by St. Bonaventure lifted the Bonnies to an 83-57 win Wednesday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

How It Happened
• St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 16-8 lead, but the Hawks answered with a 16-1 run as a three-pointer by Jordan Hall gave Saint Joseph's a 24-17 lead with under eight minutes to play in the half.
• The Bonnies responded with eight straight points to retake the lead, 25-24, and used that to spark a 15-4 run to close the half with a 32-28 edge.
• The Hawks cut their deficit to one point twice early in the second half as a pair of free throws by Funk made it 36-35 just over three minutes into the period.
• A three-pointer by Jaren Holmes capped a 15-2 run by St. Bonaventure as the Bonnies opened a 52-37 advantage and never allowed Saint Joseph's to get any closer than 13 from there.

• Funk finished with 13 points on 5-10 shooting, including 1-4 from deep and 2-2 from the foul line, and added five rebounds.
• Brown scored in double figures for the second straight game as he tallied 13 points on the day.
• Tying for the team lead in scoring, today marked the fourth time this season Funk has led the Hawks in scoring and first for Brown.
• Hall grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds and added nine points and a team-high five assists.
• Saint Joseph's connected on 10 three-pointers, marking the second consecutive game it has reached double figures.
• Saint Joseph's bench outscored the Bonnies 20-2.
• Overall, the Hawks went 22-59 from the field for 37.3 percent.
• St. Bonaventure shot 47.1 percent from the field (32-68) and 43.5 percent from behind the arc (10-23).
• Holmes led the Bonnies with a career-high 38 points and added a team-high 10 rebounds.
• The Hawks move to 51-30 all-time against St. Bonaventure, with the two teams set to face each other again on February 3 at Hagan Arena.
