Men's Basketball Rallies Past UAlbany, 67-64

Using a 15-5 run to close out the contest, the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team topped the University at Albany, 67-64, on Saturday evening at Hagan Arena.

How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's connected on six of its first seven shots as it jumped out to a 13-5 lead on a jumper by Jack Forrest just under four minutes in.
• A three-pointer by Myles Douglas extended the Hawks' lead to 23-13, but UAlbany responded with a 17-5 run to jump ahead, 30-28, on a basket by Kellon Taylor at 5:01.
• Scoring six of the final nine points of the first period, Saint Joseph's took a 34-33 lead into halftime.
• A three-pointer by Douglas pushed the Hawks ahead 45-42 early in the second half, but the Great Danes responded with a 16-3 run to open their biggest lead of the game, 56-48, on a three-pointer by Antonio Rizzuto at 9:10.
• Down 59-52, Saint Joseph's Jordan Hall capped a 7-0 spurt with a pair of free throws to tie the game at 59-59 with 5:48 left to play.
• UAlbany pushed ahead 64-62 on a bucket by C.J. Kelly at the 2:38 mark.
Taylor Funk answered 22 seconds later on a basket in the paint to tie the game at 64-64.
• Out of a defensive stop, Dahmir Bishop's driving layup put Saint Joseph's back on top, 66-64, with 1:47 to play.
• Off an offensive rebound by Cameron Brown, Forrest was fouled and knocked down a free throw to extend the lead to 67-64 with nine ticks remaining.
• A strong defensive stand in the final seconds forced UAlbany's game-tying shot to miss the mark as the buzzer sounded.

Inside The Boxscore
• Tonight marked the third time SJU had four Hawks finish in double-figures for scoring.
• Funk had a team-high 14 points and six rebounds to go with three assists.
• Hall handed out a game-high nine assists, scored 13 points and had four rebounds.
• Going 4-6 from the field, including 2-2 from deep, Douglas added 10 points in a reserve role.
• Forrest added 12 points and had four rebounds.
• The Hawks shot a season-best 51.9 percent from the floor, going 28-54 overall.
• Saint Joseph's went 5-19 from behind the arc (26.3 percent) and 6-11 (54.5 percent) from the foul line.
• Jarvis Doles led three Great Danes in double figures with 13 points.
• SJU out rebounded UAlbany, 32-27, and outscored the Great Danes 38-26 in the paint.
• The Hawks move to 1-0 all-time versus the University at Albany.
