Complete Effort Leads #11 Field Hockey Past #12 Boston College, 2-0

NEWTON, Mass. – An outstanding team effort on both sides of the ball led the 11th-ranked Saint Joseph's field hockey team to a 2-0 win over #12 Boston College at the Newton Field Hockey Complex on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (11-4) dominated possession and had the majority of the chances throughout the first half, and five minutes into the second quarter, the Hawks made it count.  Sol Borensztein had an attempt on a penalty corner saved by BC's Jonna Kennedy, but Manon van Weezel was there to lift the rebound into the cage for a 1-0 lead.

• Neither team found paydirt in the third quarter, but less than a minute into the fourth, Katelyn Cocco picked off a pass inside the BC circle and finished off a diving effort to double the lead.

• Boston College (10-5) ratcheted up the pressure, including subbing off Kennedy for an extra attacker, but the Hawk defense denied a pair of corners in the final minute and sealed the victory.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• The Hawks outshot the Eagles 14-7 and held BC without a shot on goal until the fourth quarter.  SJU also earned seven corners to five for the hosts.

• Van Weezel's goal is her first in the Crimson and Gray.

• Robin Bleekemolen posted her seventh shutout of the season, tied for the third-most in a season in program history.  Kennedy made seven saves for the Eagles in defeat.
