Saint Joseph's
Natalie Nevins' golden goal lifted the Hawks' women's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime victory over La Salle on Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from
Erica Behr and
Ashley Orendac exactly a minute apart.
• Off a free kick by Nevins, Behr squared up and headed in a shot from the middle of the box that found the back of the net at 17:57.
• Orendac made it 2-0 at 18:57 as
Izzy Greene played the ball into the box, where Orendac stepped in front of a defender and depositied the ball into the back of the net.
• The Explorers draw within one on a goal by Kelli McGroarty in the 66th minute.
• La Salle's Haley Gschrey tied the match at 2-2 with less than eight minutes to play on a low shot that snuck through traffic and slipped inside the left post.
• With both teams having multiple scoring chances in overtime, Nevins broke through with the game winner in the 99th minute as she took a pass from
Aleksa Peev and lifted a shot to the right post that sailed over a defender and past La Salle's diving goalkeeper to give the Hawks the victory.

• With the victory, the Hawks move to within a point of the final Atlantic 10 Championship spot.
• Saint Joseph's enters Sunday's regular season finale with 12 points, just behind George Mason, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure (13 points apiece).
