RICHMOND –
Ashley Orendac's goal with less than four minutes to play lifted the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team past VCU, 1-0, and helped the Hawks secure a spot in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship. With Sunday's victory, Saint Joseph's earned the eighth seed for the A-10 Championship and will travel to top-seed VCU for a quarterfinal match on Saturday, October 30 at 7 p.m.

How It Happened
• Needing a victory to keep its A-10 Championship hopes alive, the Hawks played the Rams to a draw at halftime.
• Saint Joseph's broke through in the 87th minute as
Danielle Stuart took a corner kick from
Natalie Nevins and flicked it towards the goal, allowing Orendac to head the ball over the Ram's goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
• VCU had four scoring chances in the final minutes, but goalkeeper
Katie Cappelletti and the Hawks' defense turned the Rams away on each try to secure the victory.

• Cappelletti made five saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season.
• Orendac's goal was her team-leading fifth of the season.
• The Hawks' victory handed the Rams their lone loss in A-10 play, and just their third of the season.
• VCU outshot St. Joe's 24-10, but the Hawks put seven of their shots on goal, while the Rams only had five.

• The highest remaining seed following the four quarterfinal games will host the semifinals and championship match on Nov. 5-7.
• All seven games of the 2021 A-10 Championship will be broadcast on ESPN+.
• Richmond and Saint Joseph's went 5-5 for 15 points in the league standings, but the Spiders won the head-to-head tiebreaker based on results against common conference opponents to claim the No. 7 seed.
